This quilt was made for the Memories of Childhood contest held by the Museum of American Folk Art in 1988. 

It was one of two finalists from Michigan.  As I was making it, I thought a lot about my grandpa Simmons, who worked for the railroad (the train is for him) and the many memories I have as a child tagging along with him as he inspected bridges.
